Pilot Whales                                                                             Twilight Zone

     I have black skin and few teeth, I am a cetacean, (relating to whales and dolphins) and there are two different types of me; a long finned pilot whale or a short finned pilot whale. I don’t enjoy my life always because a lot of my friends die. 
     An adult male pilot whale can reach up to 20 feet and can weigh up to 3 tons. These whales are very large, only the killer whale is larger. You may not get to see the Pilot Whale as often as other species; this is because it
tends to stick to the deeper waters. (The twilight zone)They have been raised for their extremely high level of intelligence. They are said to be very easy to train and they are also social creatures. 
     Long-finned pilot whales live in cold waters, but I live in tropical and subtropical waters. I am a short finned pilot whale! Male short-finned pilot whales can grow as long as 7.3 meters (24 feet) with an average length of 5.5 meters (18 feet), while the female short-finned pilot whales reach an average of 3.7 meters (12 feet). Adult short-finned pilot whales have a weight ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 kilograms (2,200 to 6,600 pounds).
     Pilot Whales eat squid, herring, and various small fish. A pilot whale starts as a calf then they become a short finned whale, then a long finned pilot whale. The short finned pilot whales usually live of the waters of Puerto Rico. This animal is a predator. A lot of pilot whales get killed, about 950 pilot whales die each year.  
     In conclusion Pilot Whales are very special to see, also very rare. So not a lot of Pilot Whales are left in the world because all of all the killing. They kill pilot whales for oil, meat,  blubber, and oil lamps. Male pilot
whales live up to 45 years and female pilot whales live up to 60 years, if nobody kills them. An assigned group of people kill whales for their materials   that they can get out of them.
